Piston production line: Solutions for piston rod discoloration

The hydraulic transmission system of the piston production line has a high-temperature condition, and the working piston rod frequently contacts with ultra-low temperature environments under high-temperature conditions; non-excavator-specific gear oil of the same brand was replaced during the maintenance cycle. This situation usually occurs within a few days of replacing the finished oil.

The electroplating process of the piston rod of the piston production line is unevenly controlled in temperature, resulting in cracks on the surface of the electroplating layer in the later stage of work. Irregular micro-cracks can be seen on the surface of the piston rod by observing with a high-magnification high-power magnifying glass. This is generally caused by the gear oil temperature being too high, and this situation mostly occurs in the upper part of the excavator hydraulic cylinder that is used more frequently.
After the piston rod of the piston production line is bruised, if it is not properly handled, it will affect normal use in mild cases, and in severe cases, the hydraulic cylinder will not be able to work. Our restoration method is to use partial blade grinding and polishing for lighter scratches; for heavier scratches, we use welding and repair blade grinding.
The main reason for the bruising of the piston rod of the piston production line is: after the dust seal ages and falls off in pieces, it not only loses its anti-fouling function, but also accumulates a lot of dust and debris at this point, causing the piston rod to directly grind against the debris, resulting in the piston rod being bruised, and the scar further damaging the cylinder mouth gasket components, causing serious leakage of the hydraulic cylinder.
As the guide slider wears, the swing amount of the rotary table will gradually increase. Within the allowable wear range of the guide slider, the swing amount in the up and down directions is compensated by the gap between the mounting ears at the top of the pressurized hydraulic cylinder piston rod and the hydraulic cylinder support ears of the rotary table, and the resulting lateral additional interaction force is borne by the outer sides of the guide rails on both sides of the derrick.
